Behavioral Health - Eating Disorders Program

879-3799

The new England Eatign Disorders (NEED) Program at Mecy Hospital offers the only comprehensive treatment for eating disorders in southern Maine.

The program is staffed by experienced nurses, therapists, dietitians and physicians who deliver a range of services including medical assessment and management, nutritional assessment, psychiatric evaluation and counseling, family therapy, and spiritual counseling.

Levels of Care:

In-Patient Care:

In our supportive environment, patients are away from the demands that may contribute to their problems.  Patients spend the night at Mercy Hospital until they are medically stable and able to participate in partial hospitalization.

Partial Hospitalization:

This intensive, non-residential program is offered Monday through Friday for those who are medically stable and able to function in a less stuctured environment than the in-patient program.

Support Groups:

These are offered at no cost.  Call 879-3795 for more information.

Family and Friends Group:

This group meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Mercy Hospital, 144 State Street location.  The group offers education and support to those whose lives have been affected by someone with an eating disorder.

INTAKE OFFICE:

Program Manager Paul Puchalski:  879-3799
