Behavioral Health - Consult Service

The consult service has an average of 107 inpatient and 51 outpatient consults per month.  Psychiatric and Chemical Dependency consultations are provided to:

  • Medical-surgical inpatients
  • Emergency Room patients
  • Mercy Primary Care patients
  • Recovery Center patients
  • Nursing staff on all units for patient management

Consultation may be requested by physicians for delirium, competency examinations, suicidal or homicidal presentation, inebriation, or medical (phychotropic) management.   We do not offer continued outpatient psychiatric services through this program, but, where appropriate, will assist the attending or community primary care physician in obtaining an appropriate referral.
