Medical Staff Committees

As a member of the Active or Associate Medical Staff, you are obligated to serve on committees when requested and are also invited to volunteer for these assignments.   Committees are as follows:

Medical Executive Committee:  Oversees all work of the Medical Staff.  Makes recommendations regarding credentialing/privileging; acts on reports, requests, and recommendations from various forums within the Medical Staff, recommends Bylaws changes, and oversees all quality improvement activities.

Bylaws Committee:  Reviews and makes recommendations for changes to the Medical Staff Bylaws & Rules and Regulations.

Cancer Committee:  Reviews, monitors and makes recommendations regarding all cancer related care at Mercy including clinical research, education, and patient/family support.

Credentials Committee:  Reviews, monitors and makes recommendations regarding all matters related to credentialing and privileging.

Critical Care Committee:  Reviews, monitors and makes recommendations regarding all care related to the delivery of critical care medicine at Mercy.

Institutional Review Board:  Reviews, monitors and makes recommendations regarding any proposed biomedical and behavioral research involving human subjects.

Medical Library Committee:  Reviews, monitors and makes recommendations regarding the promotion and development of the Health Sciences Library.

Operative & Invasive Procedures Committee:   Reviews, monitors and makes recommendations regarding all surgical and invasive procedure care at Mercy.  This committee meets jointly with the Division of General Surgery.

Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee:  Reviews, monitors and makes recommendations regarding drugs, nutritional support and blood transfusion/usage.

Quality & Resource Management Committee:   Reviews, monitors and makes recommendations regarding orders, medical records completion, quality and utilization review.

University of New England Graduate Medical Education Committee:   Oversees the functioning of the UNE internship program at Mercy.
