Clinical Laboratory and Anatomical Pathology

Mercy's Clinical Laboratory consists of the following departments: Biochemistry, Microbiology, Hematology, Blood Bank, Phlebotomy, Central Processing, Cytology, Histology, and Pathology. Each department carries out specialized testing on a wide variety of specimens. Most tests are performed on a 24 hour basis. The laboratory consists of 68 Medical Technologists, Medical Technicians, Laboratory Assistants, Cytologists, Histologist, Pathology Transcriptionists/Secretaries, a Lab Manager, and two Board Certified Pathologists. The Laboratory is fully accredited by the College of American Pathologists. Last year the laboratory performed over 300,000 tests.
