Clinical Laboratory and Anatomical Pathology

Mercy's Clinical Laboratory consists of the following departments: Biochemistry, Microbiology, Hematology, Blood Bank, Phlebotomy, Central Processing, Cytology, Histology, and Pathology.  Each department carries out specialized testing on a wide variety of specimens.  Most tests are performed on a 24 hour basis.  The laboratory consists of 68 Medical Technologists, Medical Technicians, Laboratory Assistants, Cytologists, Histologist, Pathology Transcriptionists/Secretaries, a Lab Manager, and two Board Certified Pathologists.   The Laboratory is fully accredited by the College of American Pathologists.  Last year the laboratory performed over 300,000 tests.   For information on submitting specimens, or for results, please refer to the Department listings below.
