Welcome to the largest substance abuse treatment center in Maine, offering inpatient and outpatient programs for adults.

At The Recovery Center, we are committed to treating our patients with respect with the understanding that addiction is an illness. We encourage the participation of key family members at the appropriate point in treatment, while remaining committed to patient confidentiality.

We treat the entire spectrum of addictions from alcohol to all types of drugs one step at a time...one day at a time...one person at a time.

Our skilled therapists, nurses, physicians and psychiatrists provide:

• skilled assessments, substance abuse evaluation
• medical management of withdrawal
• detoxification with the latest medications and comfort measures
• outpatient counseling and support services - at whatever level a patient needs, all the way to AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) and NA (Narcotics Anonymous)
• treatment for associated medical and psychiatric complications
• on-going support needed to stay clean and sober

Our Treatment Team
Those with substance abuse issues often have other health complications. Our staff is committed to addressing the individual recovery needs of each patient.

Dr. Mark Publicker, former Regional Chief of Addiction Medicine for Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic Region (which covers the Washington-Baltimore metropolitan region) joined the Recovery Center team as Medical Director on November 17, 2003. Dr. Publicker has directed a multi-disciplinary health center with 80 physicians, 800 staff and over 40,000 patients. He brings to his position a wealth of experience in motivational interviewing, chronic pain management and addiction medicine.

Drs. Edward A. McCarthy, Jr. and Patrice Lockhart provide psychiatric consultation for our patients.
